The Art of Dana Parlier


Dana B. Parlier received his BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in NY and has ten years of post graduate studies at the Art Students League of NY. He has concentrated studies in life-sized clay figures from the model, plaster casting, drawing, anatomy, wood carving, stone carving and oil painting.

Parlier received a Lloyd Sherwood Study grant, an Edward G. Mcdowell Travel grant, where he travelled in Europe for 4 1/2 months studying art history, and was chosen to participate in the Model to Monument Program at the Newington-Cropsey Foundation which culminated in the installation of "Theme of Balance", a bronze sculpture on the campus of Vanderbilt University. Parlier is a Technical Instructor for the welding and bronze casting program at the Art Students League of NY. He was an instructor for welding, figurative clay sculpture and the gifted youth program at the Educational Alliance Art School, NY, NY, as well as an instructor and founder of the figurative clay sculpture program at the American Wood Carving School, Wayne, NJ. His work is represented by Figureworks Gallery in New York and Wohlfarth Galleries in Washington DC and Provincetown, MA.
