The Art of Susan Newmark

Susan's collages and artists books have been in one person shows at the Brooklyn Public Library at Grand Army Plaza and the galleries of John Jay College, Long Island University and St. John's University. She recently had a solo show of her artists books at the Garrison Art Center. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, the Parrish Museum, The Islip Museum, the Cummings Foundation, Brooklyn College ,The Center for Book Arts and the Rotunda Gallery. Ms. Newmark has had residencies at the Lower East Side Printshop ,the Women's Studio Workshop and the Byrdcliff Arts Center and is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the Lower East Side Printshop and the Medical Library of the University of Southern California. She was the guest curator for Rare Editions: The Book as Art at Lehman College Gallery and coordinates Dialogues in the Visual Arts , a series of conversations with artists and art professionals at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center . She is a board member of the Center for Book Arts and the advisory committee of Kentler International Drawing Space. Ms. Newmark was the Deputy Director for the Visual Arts and Arts-inEducation at Henry Street Settlement Abrons Arts Center.
